I think that Loki is being genuine here. I mean, look at him. He’s utterly at a loss. All he wanted was just a bit of fun. But Thor is the only person in Loki’s life who understands him, or at least tries. Thor is his rival, yes, but he’s also his brother, his best friend, and, frankly, his reason for everything that he does.

I can’t properly express my Loki feels, but this is a start.
